In order to create the blue print for Image Engine, I had to better understand my audience. This is not only the children with autism for whom the visual supports will be used, but also the people whom I anticipate will use the website and mobile application to build supports. With this in mind, I did a series of participatory design exercises.

While doing these exercises, I was working under the guidance of Nathan Waterhouse, cofounder of OpenIDEO. I used an user-centered approach as laid out in the book User Centered Design, written and released by IDEO.
