Autism

Autism is a developmental disability that affects people throughout their entire lifetimes. It is a disorder of the mind, and it is recognized by the way a person behaves, rather than by any physical signs.
The core challenges of autism are impairments in social interaction, impairments in communication, and restricted, repetitive behavior.
Children with autism often struggle with audible learning — learning by hearing words — but are often much better at processing visual information, that is seeing pictures. For this reason, many teachers and parents of children with autism use visual supports to facilitate learning and communicate ideas.
